About Me

Hello there! Nice to meet you. Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a mid-thirties gal living just outside DC. I have a wonderful husband, a miraculously special daughter, and a sweet little dog. In what feels like a previous life I managed communications for a nonprofit. Besides moming and blogging, I enjoy traveling far and near, photography, genealogy, daydreaming of the perfect baby names, and huge glasses of Malbec.

I started to blog about my journey with infertility as a way to get my emotions on (virtual) paper and connect with others who might understand what I was facing. My hope was that it wouldn’t be all about sadness,ย treatment schedules, and angry rants about other people’s happy lives with babies, but rather a place that I could blog about LIFE with infertility, and not life with INFERTILITY.

Years later (and quite a blogging hiatus) I’m back to blog about my experience as a new mama and chronicle my journey for baby number two through FET.

  1. Just found your blog and it looks like we may be on similar IVF cycles. I start my Estrace Priming Protocol (instead of birth control pills) this cycle and then the fun begins! Sending you lots of good vibes and baby dust! Look forward to reading more of your story ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Our stories are so similar! I’ve been TTC since June 2012 with PCOS, and although I’ve been able to conceive 3 times in those 2.5 years with the help of Clomid/Femara and IUI (I’ve had 12!), all have ended in miscarriage (17, 10, and 6 weeks). I’m on to IVF now, with a transfer likely in December. I stumbled across your blog while researching the antagonist protocol ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll be stalking for an update from your IVF #1! Praying and praying and praying that it will do the trick!

    • I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. Sending you lots of positive vibes for your first IVF cycle! If you have any questions on antagonist protocol, send them my way! It worked well for me and no OHSS at all! We got our first BFP this week, so we’re (cautiously) very, very excited!

  3. Hi MK, I was wondering if you can tell me if through IVF you were able to get a diagnosis through the IVF testing and the observations they did through observations?

We are also in the “unexplained” category and heading into IUI #1, I really feel that it will not work as our results have been so great, bloodwork was great, HSG was great, and my husband’s analysis was above average, so why are we not getting pregnant…grrr.

I wish I could jump into IVF but because we are both 27 they won’t let us until we do the dreaded Clomid, Femara, Injectables, IUI path.

    • Hi there, our diagnosis was unexplained just like you. When we did IVF, we tried ICSI on some of the eggs, and regular IVF fertilization on the others to see if that could give us some insight into the issue. It turns out that only slightly more fertilized with ICSI, and the best quality embryo (the one I’m pregnant with now) was one of the ones that fertilized on its own. Long story short, we never found out the problem, but are feeling very blessed that IVF worked for us after 5 failed IUIs.

I do have two sets of close friends who had the same diagnosis as us and had IUI work for them, so don’t count it out before you try! It is a very personal decision when to move from IUI to IVF and I’m sending you lots of positive vibes!!

  4. I just saw your bumpdate post and I was wondering if you might let me share it on our weekly bumpdate site, the Maternity Gallery. I feature week by week pregnancy pictures to show how different each pregnancy is. Lots of moms-to-be have found it helpful and reassuring โ€” you may too!

If you are interested in sharing I can include a link back to you from each photo, or the photos can be posted anonymously, whichever you prefer.

I hope you are feeling great and I look forward to hearing from you soon! Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

    Jennifer

  5. I just want to thank you for creating this blog. My husband and I have been trying since 2013, and your little space on the interwebz has been our sanity and safe place. I am in my first IVF cycle (3 days past a 5-day transfer) and this two-week wait already feels like an eternity! ๐Ÿ™‚ I read your blog almost every morning and reference it when I need to find some peace or hope. There’s a comforting tone about the way you write that makes me think this is all going to be okay and we’re going to get the healthy, happy baby we’ve wanted for so long. Thanks so much!

    • Thank you so much for this note – you have no idea how much this means to me! I’m so honored to know that my story is helping you in some small way. Infertility is the hardest thing I’ve dealt with, but I found connecting with others through blogging helped me not feel quite as alone.

I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hoping that this cycle brings you your sweet baby. If you’re open to it, please keep me posted! Lots of positive vibes coming your way! XOXO
